1 (9) - Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama; 1 (13) - Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri; 2 (39) - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia; 3 (72) - Brian Winters, OG, Kent State; 5 (141) - Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia; 6 (178) - William Campbell, DT, Michigan; 7 (215) - Tommy Bohanon, FB, Wake Forest

Top Picks Analysis: The locals at Radio City Music Hall approved of Darrelle Revis' presumptive replacement, Milliner, who was the best cornerback in the draft but may lack the ball skills to be the kind of playmaker some project him as. This isn't going to be a Troy Williamson replacing Randy Moss situation but Milliner is going to have a tough time in Revis' rather large shadow. The Jets continued rebuilding Rex Ryan's defense with their second first-round selection but it was a big surprise that Richardson, more of a 4-3 under tackle, went before Star Lotulelei, who could be a great 3-4 nose. Smith has the kind of athleticism that is en vogue in the NFL right now at the quarterback position. Winters, meanwhile, is a solid prospect who will help New York rebuild the offensive line.

Best Value Pick: One of the knocks on Smith was his rabbit ears, the thought he heard criticism and let it get to him far too often. That's why it was so alarming when he told ESPN's Suzy Kolber that he wouldn't be back on Friday after watching the entire first round from the Green Room. It showed immaturity and the inability to persevere in bad times, something scouts tend to take very seriously. That said, Smith came to his senses and did stay so he showed some moxy and any time you get a talent who was once thought of as a possible No. 1 overall pick at 39, there is significant value there.

Questionable Calls: Lotulelei is a better fit than Richardson for Ryan's previous style of defense, something that should tell you all you need to know about the lame duck coach's long-term status with the Jets.

Summary: New general manager John Idzik certainly fit in with the Jets' New York Post back page headline style rather quickly, creating plenty of controversy with his early picks. Mark Sanchez is clearly on his last legs, Tim Tebow was finally jettisoned on Monday and forget about the three other quarterbacks in the mix. Smith is now the guy moving forward and that will ultimately define this draft.
