LSU has suspended running back Jeremy Hill indefinitely following an arrest for an off-campus altercation this past weekend.

Hill, a rising sophomore who led the Tigers with 755 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns as a true freshman last season, was charged with simple battery after an incident at a bar near the university early Saturday morning. Citing an affidavit of probable cause, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported a 20- year-old victim told police he was struck in the head several times and lost consciousness. The newspaper stated that Hill and another unidentified man were caught on video striking the victim.

According to the Times-Picayune, Hill was already on probation for a previous offense, having pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in January of 2011.

A statement released by LSU's sports information office on Monday said head coach Les Miles will allow the incident to play through the legal system before making any further comments on the matter.
