Robin Van Persie came back to haunt his old team on Sunday as the Dutchman's first-half penalty kick secured a 1-1 draw for Manchester United against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Van Persie, the Premier League's top goal scorer this season, returned to face his former club at the Emirates for the first time since leaving the club in the offseason for Manchester United after spending eight seasons with the Gunners.

The result ensures that Manchester United, which clinched its 20th league title with a win over Aston Villa last Monday, can not surpass the all-time mark for most points in a campaign, set by Jose Mourinho's 2004-05 Chelsea side with 94 points.

Arsenal, meanwhile, remains in the league's final Champions League place with 64 points from 35 matches, two clear of fifth-place Tottenham, which drew Wigan on Saturday.

It was a dream start for the Gunners as Theo Walcott ran onto a through ball on the right side of the box and calmly beat United goalkeeper David De Gea to the far post to put the hosts up, 1-0, early.

But just before the break, Van Persie was brought down in the box by Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna, drawing a spot kick for United.

Van Persie stepped up and ripped it into the top right corner past Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for his 25th league goal of the season to put the sides back on level terms.

After the interval, Arsenal pushed numbers forward and made three attack- oriented substitutions, needing the win much more than United, but the Gunners were never able to get a winner past De Gea and the clubs settled for a share of the points.

Chelsea 2, Swansea City 0

London, England - Chelsea extended its unbeaten run in Premier League play to four straight matches on Sunday after easing past Swansea City by a 2-0 count at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues opened the scoring two minutes before the break when Oscar got on the end of a pass from Frank Lampard in the Swansea penalty area and beat Swans goalkeeper Michel Vorm to the bottom left corner for the 1-0 lead.

Just two minutes later, Juan Mata was brought down in the box by Leon Britton, resulting in a penalty kick for Chelsea.

Lampard stepped up to take the kick and calmly buried it into the bottom left corner past Vorm to give the Blues a 2-0 advantage.

The result moves Chelsea into third place in the Premiership with 65 points from 35 matches, while the Swans remain on the edge of the top half of the table in ninth place with 42 points.

Reading 0, QPR 0

Reading, England - Reading and Queens Park Rangers played to a rather tame scoreless draw on Sunday at the Madejski Stadium, ensuring that both clubs will drop to the Championship next season.

Both clubs sent several shots in the direction of goal, needing three points to keep their hopes of avoiding the drop alive, but each side failed to produce any genuine chances over the course of the 90 minutes.

The result sees both sides improve to 25 points, but Reading will be heading down after just one season in the English top-flight, while QPR drops down after two seasons in the Premiership.
