Florida guard Jessamen Dunker, suspended since allegedly stealing a scooter in January, has decided to transfer.

Coach Will Muschamp made the announcement Wednesday, saying Dunker "felt like he needed a fresh start."

Dunker, a redshirt freshman from Boynton Beach, was one of the top offensive line recruits in the country when he signed with the Gators in 2012. But he didn't play as a freshman and then found himself in trouble shortly after the season.

He was arrested Jan. 16, charged with grand theft and suspended. Dunker's attorney says his client didn't know the scooter was stolen. The case is pending.

Muschamp says he supports Dunker's decision: "Obviously he's got some pretty well-documented, off-the-field issues, and we talked about it and he felt like he needed a fresh start."
