Benfica preserved its unbeaten record in league play by claiming a 2-0 victory over Lisbon derby rivals Sporting on Sunday at the Estadio de Luz.

Benfica opened the scoring in the 36th minute through Eduardo Salvio and the league leaders put the game away 15 minute from time when Lima found the back of the net to give the hosts the two-goal advantage.

Benfica improves to an impressive 22-0-4 on the campaign and has won eight consecutive contests to sit at the summit of the Portuguese league with 70 points from 26 matches, 14 clear of second-place FC Porto.

Elsewhere in Portugal on Sunday, a 59th-minute tally from Yazalde lifted Beira Mar to a 1-0 win over Gil Vicente, while second-half goals from Claudemir and Daniel Candeias sent Nacional to a 2-1 win over Maritimo.

A 62nd-minute penalty kick from Paulo Tavares was enough to push Setubal to a 1-0 win over Estroil.

Saturday's action saw Paolo Hurtado and Andre Leao each find the back of the net for Pacos Ferreira in a 2-1 triumph over Rio Ave, while Porto collected a brace from Jackson Martinez and a third goal from Fernando in a 3-0 thrashing of Moreirense.

In the lone Portuguese contest on Friday, Ruben Micael netted the only goal of the contest in a 1-0 win for Braga against Academica.

Monday's action saw a first-half double by El Arbi Soudani lift Guimaraes to a 2-1 result over Olhanense.
