The New York Mets announced on Sunday that the team has designated left-handed pitcher Aaron Laffey for assignment and recalled left-handed pitcher Rob Carson from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Laffey, 28, has appeared in four games this season -- two starts -- for a 7.20 earned run average over 10 innings.

The 24-year-old Carson appeared in 17 games for the Mets last season and pitched 13 1/3 innings with a 4.73 ERA. In eight games with Las Vegas this season, the lefty is 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA over 7 2/3 innings.
