Warren moves into lead in Spain

Valencia, Spain – Marc Warren carded a 4-under 68 on Saturday to move into the lead of the Open de Espana.

Warren finished three rounds at Parador de El Saler at 8-under-par 208, which is two strokes clear of Craig Lee (70).

"I am very pleased with today's work," Warren said. "They were tough conditions on a tough golf course, so to shoot 68 is a very pleasing day."

David Horsey fired the low round of the day with a 6-under 66 to vault himself into a share of third place with Paul Waring (69) at 5-under.

Second-round leader Peter Uihlein stumbled to a 2-over 74 to drop into a tie with Maximilian Kieffer (69), David Howell (71) and Raphael Jacquelin (73) for fifth at minus-4.

Warren entered the day two shots behind Uihlein, but quickly joined the American atop the leaderboard at 7-under with birdies at the third, fifth and seventh.

Uihlein had moved to 8-under with two birdies in his first three holes before slipping to a bogey at the sixth to meet Warren at minus-7.

Warren then dropped a shot behind Uihlein with a bogey at the ninth, but bounced back with a birdie at the 10th to regain a share of the lead.

Uihlein fell apart from there, closing his round with bogeys at the 13th, 16th and 17th to fall off the pace.

Warren, meanwhile, birdied the 12th to pull ahead of the pack at 8-under.

He briefly lost the top spot to Lee with a bogey at the 14th as Lee climbed the leaderboard with birdies at the fourth, fifth, 14th and 15th, but Lee finished his round with back-to-back bogeys at the 16th and 17th to drop to second place.

"I played well early on and managed to get a couple of birdies, but the end was difficult with the wind and I threw a couple (of shots) away," said Lee. "It is always frustrating (to end poorly). There were a couple of easy up and downs and I did not quite make the most of them."

Warren then pulled two strokes clear of Lee with a birdie at the 15th followed by three straight pars to take a 2-stroke edge into the final round.

NOTES: Warren is seeking his third career win on the European Tour ... Warren's best finish this year was a tie for 17th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic ... This is the fourth time that Parador de El Saler is hosting the tournament, but the first since 2001.
