PGA Tour player James Driscoll of Massachusetts has pledged $1,000 for each birdie he makes during his next two tournaments for those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.

Driscoll grew up in Brookline, Mass., and lives in downtown Boston, two blocks from where the explosions took place. The two blasts killed three people and wounded more than 170.

Driscoll's "Birdies For Boston" means he'll give $1,000 for each birdie he makes at the RBC Heritage this week and at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans next week.

Driscoll had thought about going home for Patriots' Day. He had been in Florida practicing when he heard about the explosions. He immediately worried about friends back home and what he could do to help.
