Security has been tightened at the TD Garden, where the Bruins play on Wednesday in the first major sporting event in Boston since the marathon bombings.

Cars were searched inside and out before entering the garage under the arena. Sports writers, usually subject to only the most cursory inspection, were waved with a metal-detecting wand when passing through security.

Monday's Bruins game was postponed in the wake of the bombings that killed three people and injured more than 170 others.

Bruins forward Chris Kelly says he's glad to get back on the ice if it will help take the city's mind off the tragedy. The Bruins will take on the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 p.m.
