Cleveland, OH – The Cleveland Indians recalled infielder Cord Phelps from Triple-A Columbus prior to Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox.
Phelps played in 14 games for the Indians last season, batting .212 with one homer and five RBI.
Cleveland also optioned catcher Omir Santos to Columbus and outrighted pitcher Robert Whitenack to Double-A Akron.
