Mallorca, Spain – Giovani Dos Santos handed Mallorca a lifeline in the club's quest to remain in La Liga next season as the Mexican scored at the death on Monday to power his side to a 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo at the Iberostar Stadium.
The two sides appeared to be heading for a scoreless draw until Dos Santos turned in a rebound from close range deep into stoppage time.
The goal sent the Iberostar Stadium into a frenzy as it lifted Mallorca out of last place and within one point of safety. The club remains in the relegation zone, sitting second from bottom on 27 points.
Celta Vigo drops to the La Liga cellar as its six-game winless run leaves the club stuck on 24 points.
