The San Diego Padres have recalled first basemen/outfielder Kyle Blanks from the Tucson Padres and optioned right- handed pitcher Thad Weber to the same Triple-A affiliate.

Blanks, 26, has appeared in eight games this season for Tucson, hitting .296 with three doubles, a home run, four RBI and seven runs scored. He had a productive spring training, going 23-for-65 with three home runs, 14 RBI and 17 runs scored in 30 Cactus League games.

Weber allowed two earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work out of the bullpen in his Padres debut on Saturday. He has now appeared in three MLB games with the Tigers and Padres, posting a 7.04 ERA in 7 2/3 innings.
