Guan finishes up at Augusta

Augusta, GA – Tianlang Guan finished his historic first appearance at the Masters with a 3-over 75 on Sunday.

The 14-year-old China native, who set a couple of records at Augusta National as the youngest player to ever start the tournament and make the cut, ended the tournament at 12-over-par 300.

Guan's record-setting appearance at the Masters, however, will most likely be overshadowed by his controversial 1-stroke penalty for slow play on Friday.

The penalty was questioned by many people around the course, including playing partner and two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw.

"There's no question he played slowly at times," Crenshaw said about Guan. "But he was working things out. ... The rule's 45 seconds, you know, and it's pretty difficult for somebody to do that in a tournament like this with conditions the way they are. It's going to happen, but I'm really sorry."

The penalty gave him a two-day total of 4-over, which turned out to be right on the cut line.

He then carded a 77 on Saturday and continued to struggle on Sunday as he recorded four bogeys over his first 11 holes before pouring in his first birdie since the 18th of his first round at the 13th.

He picked up another shot at the 16th, but bogeyed the 17th and closed with a par to end at 3-over for the day.

Guan will have something to show for his Masters visit, though, as he was the lone amateur to reach the weekend and will collect the silver cup as the low amateur at the tournament.
