The Oakland Athletics have placed outfielder Yoenis Cespedes on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his left hand.

Cespedes suffered the injury during Friday's 4-3, 12-inning victory over the Tigers. It was the ninth straight win for the Athletics.

The 27-year-old Cespedes hurt his hand while being thrown out at second base on a steal attempt that ended the eighth inning. He stayed in the game until the bottom of the 11th, when Derek Norris pinch-hit for him.

A's manager Bob Melvin said after Friday's game that X-rays were negative on Cespedes' hand.

Cespedes is hitting .200 with three homers and seven RBI in 11 games this season. This is his second career stint on the disabled list.

Oakland recalled outfielder Michael Taylor from Triple-A Sacramento to fill the roster spot. He was batting .410 with five doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI in nine games with the River Cats this season.
