The Colorado Avalanche will retire the jersey of longtime defenseman Adam Foote in a ceremony next season.

Foote's familiar No. 52 jersey will be raised to the Pepsi Center rafters at a date still to be determined, where it will join those of Joe Sakic (19), Peter Forsberg (21), Patrick Roy (33) and Ray Bourque (77).

The 41-year-old Foote helped the Avalanche win Stanley Cup titles in 1996 and 2001. He appeared in more regular season games and postseason contests than any defenseman in franchise history.

Over his 19-year NHL career, Foote scored 66 goals and dished out 242 assists in 1,154 games, which included nearly three seasons with Columbus.

Foote was originally a second-round pick by Quebec in 1989. The team relocated to Denver before the 1995-96 season.
