Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love will undergo surgery on his left knee, ending what was an injury plagued 2012-13 campaign for the fifth year veteran.

Love, who played in just 18 games this season, will have an arthroscopic procedure done to remove a buildup of scar tissue in his knee. The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altchek later this week.

Recovery time typically takes 4-to-6 weeks.

The 24-year-old has missed Minnesota's last 47 games recovering from surgery on the third and fourth metacarpal in his broken right hand, an injury he suffered on Jan. 3.

Love had sustained a fracture to the same hand during a preseason workout, which forced him to miss Minnesota's first nine games. The UCLA product averaged 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds in his limited action this season.
