New York, NY – Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby, Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban and Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the month of March.
Crosby was tabbed as First Star after finishing the second full month of the shortened 2013 season by leading the NHL with 19 assists and 25 points as the Penguins went a perfect 15-0-0 in March. The Pittsburgh captain recorded at least one point in 12 of 15 contests, including eight multi-point performances, and tied linemate Pascal Dupuis for tops in the league with a plus-19 rating.
The 25-year-old Nova Scotia native leads the NHL with 41 assists and 56 points in 36 games.
Subban garnered the Second Star honor by leading all defenseman with 18 points (7G, 11A) in 14 games to help the Habs take over first place in the Northeast Division. His seven scores were the most in one month for a Canadiens blueliner since Mathieu Schneider picked up seven in February of 1994. A 23-year-old native of Toronto, Subban is tops in the NHL among defensemen with 10 tallies and ranks third with 27 points.
Bobrovsky picked up the Third Star by leading the league with three shutouts and placing second in wins (nine), goals-against average (1.49) and save percentage (.950) as Columbus went a franchise-best 10-2-4 in March. The 24- year-old Russian yielded one or fewer goals in 10 of his 14 appearances, which included three shutouts.
