Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrej Meszaros was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.

For the second time in this truncated season, Meszaros injured his left shoulder in a game against the New York Rangers.

It was sustained in the closing minutes of Tuesday's 5-2 loss.

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said Meszaros will be out of the lineup indefinitely, and the club has recalled defenseman Erik Gustafsson from Adirondack of the AHL.

Meszaros already missed more than a month this season with a similar injury, also suffered against the Rangers in late January.

It has been a trying year for the 27-year-old blueliner -- who's bad luck on the health front began with a back injury that required surgery last March, followed by a ruptured Achilles tendon that required surgery in July and a pair of shoulder injuries this season.
