Scottsdale, AZ – Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Willie Bloomquist will start the season on the disabled list, the team announced Wednesday.
Bloomquist suffered a right oblique strain in Arizona's 7-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. There is no timetable for his recovery, but he will be eligible to return to the Diamondbacks lineup on April 11.
The 11-year-veteran batted .270 with six RBI in 13 games during spring training play.
