The Arizona Cardinals have signed safety and special teams player Jonathon Amaya to a 1-year contract.

Amaya played in 12 games last season for the Miami Dolphins, where he was second on the team in special teams tackles with seven.

Amaya signed with Miami as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Nevada in 2010, then as a rookie led the Dolphins with 25 special teams tackles. He was sent, with a draft choice, to New Orleans in the trade that sent Reggie Bush to Miami. He played in all 16 games for the Saints in 2011, then re-signed with Miami last season.

He is the 11th free agent to sign with the Cardinals this month.
