PEORIA, Ariz. – Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland pitched six innings in his first start since returning from the World Baseball Classic, giving up three runs and six hits in a 3-1 loss to the San Diego Padres on Monday.
Holland struck out seven and walked on and also had an RBI single in the second inning.
Elvis Andrus was 2 for 5 with a double for the Rangers, extending his spring hitting streak to 14 games.
San Diego starter Jason Marquis also pitched six innings, allowing a run and six hits with four walks.
Everth Cabrera was 2 for 2 with a run scored for the Padres, and left fielder Jesus Guzman hit a two-run home run and struck out twice.
