The Seattle Mariners signed outfielder Endy Chavez to a minor league contract on Sunday.

Chavez was the Mariners' opening day left fielder in 2009, but his season was cut short due to an ACL tear in his right knee.

The 35-year-old Chavez appeared in 64 games for Baltimore in 2012.

Chavez is a career .269 hitter with 26 home runs, 32 triples, 100 stolen bases and 229 RBI in 974 games with Kansas City, Montreal/Washington, Philadelphia, the New York Mets, Seattle, Texas and the Orioles.
