Jason Terry has returned to Dallas, eagerly anticipating what figures to be a happy one-night reunion for the Mavericks and a longtime fan favorite.

Terry and his new team, the Boston Celtics, were set to play Friday night in the arena Terry called home for eight years. He played a critical role in the first NBA title for Dallas two years ago.

The veteran guard was known as much for his community involvement as he was the "Jet" nickname that came from running down the court with his arms spread like wings after hitting big 3-pointers.

A standing ovation was almost certainly in order for a player Dallas coach Rick Carlisle called "Mavericks royalty."

Terry said the return "feels like home, as it should."
