London, England – Gary Cahill has been ruled out for England's World Cup qualifier in San Marino due to injury, it was announced Tuesday.
Cahill injured his knee in Chelsea's 2-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday, forcing the defender to miss Friday's international match. He will be reassessed ahead of England's tilt with Montenegro next week.
Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has been called up to replace Cahill.
