D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid was named Major League Soccer's Player of the Week on Monday for Week 3 of the 2013 season.

In Saturday's match against Atlantic Cup rivals New York Red Bulls, the Red Bulls dominated play and outshot United by a considerable 24-5 margin, but Hamid made seven saves to preserve a point for his club in a heated 0-0 draw at Red Bull Arena.

The U.S. international was test early and often in poor conditions on Saturday and made his best save of the match late in stoppage time as he cleared a cleared a Brandon Barklage shot off the line with a last-ditch effort to keep the clean sheet intact.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
