Saint-Etienne, France (Sports Network) - PSG threw away a tremendous opportunity to open up a big gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table on Sunday, dropping a two-goal lead to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw with St. Etienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Lyon suffered a 4-1 defeated to Bastia on Saturday, giving PSG the chance to extend its lead at the summit.

But PSG only managed to make it a five-point gap as it climbs to 58 points on the season with Sunday's draw.

The visitors found themselves up two goals within the opening 20 minutes thanks to Javier Pastore and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Pastore got PSG off the mark in the ninth minute while Ibrahimovic doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 19th minute with his Ligue 1-leading 25th goal of the season.

But PSG gifted St. Etienne a way back into the match eight minutes before halftime when Alex conceded an own goal.

It proved to be quite influential as it allowed St. Etienne to claw its way level in the second half with Francois Clerc equalizing in the 72nd minute.

The point sees St. Etienne climb to 49 points on the season.
