The Arizona Cardinals have reached agreement on a one-year contract with defensive end Matt Shaughnessy, the seventh free agent acquired by the team this week.

Shaughnessy started all 16 games last season with the Oakland Raiders. He had 3.5 sacks along with 42 tackles, 29 solos. The Raiders selected Shaughnessy in the third round of the 2009 draft out of Wisconsin, where he was a teammate of Arizona outside linebacker O'Brien Schofield.

Shaughnessy, who has 11 career stacks, adds depth to a Cardinals defensive front already considered one of the team's strengths. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound lineman has played in 51 games, 29 as a starter, in his NFL career.
