Bayern eyes revenge against Leverkusen

Leverkusen, Germany – Bayern Munich's one and only loss in the Bundesliga this season came back in October at home against Bayer Leverkusen, and the Bavarians will have the chance to turn that result around on Saturday at the BayArena.

Bayern is coasting toward another league title with a 20-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga, but now is a good time for the club to get refocused ahead of the final two months.

The visitors have come off the boil a bit in recent weeks, with one-goal victories over Hoffenheim and Dusseldorf and a 2-0 home defeat against Arsenal in the Champions League this past week.

But with the opportunity to gain a measure of revenge against third-place Leverkusen, the fixture might be just what Bayern needs.

Manager Jupp Heynckes will be happy to welcome back midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who sat out the Arsenal defeat through suspension, while winger Franck Ribery could be available after sitting out Wednesday's game with an injury.

Leverkusen has hit a bad patch over the past two months with only two wins in its last seven league fixtures, although the club still remains within one point of second-place Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund was drawn with Malaga in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and will try to maintain its hold on second place with a home match against Freiburg, which still holds hopes of European place.

Schalke occupies the fourth and final Champions League spot and visits Nurnberg, while Eintracht trails Schalke on goal difference and eyes three points at home against Stuttgart.

Hamburg is in the European mix as well and entertains relegation-battling Augsburg, Hoffenheim is second from the bottom and takes on Mainz, last-place Greuther Furth visits Werder Bremen and Hannover travels to Monchengladbach.

In Friday's lone contest, Ivica Olic scored early in the second half for Wolfsburg to cancel out a first-half strike from Dusseldorf's Mathis Bolly, forcing both sides to settle for a 1-1 draw.
