Johnny Dee scored 16 points, helping San Diego hang on to beat Pepperdine 62-59 on Thursday night and advance to the West Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals.

The sixth-seeded Toreros (15-17) led the entire second half but saw the seventh-seeded Waves (12-18) pull within 60-57 on Lorne Jackson's 3-pointer with 35 seconds left. San Diego made just enough free throws, and Pepperdine's Jordan Baker missed two game-tying 3-point attempts in the final seconds.

Christopher Anderson had 10 points, five assists and five steals for the Toreros, who won despite shooting 42 percent from the floor and committing 17 turnovers — one fewer than Pepperdine had. Chris Manresa chipped in nine points and 11 rebounds.

Stacy Davis scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Waves.

San Diego, which also beat Pepperdine in the teams' regular-season finale, will face No. 3 seed BYU in the tournament quarterfinals on Friday.
