Jordan Gregory scored 21 points as Montana maintained its hold on first place in the Big Sky Conference with a 63-52 victory over Sacramento State on Thursday night.

The Grizzlies (22-6, 18-1 Big Sky) lead Weber State by one game in the conference standings with one game remaining in the regular season.

Kareem Jamar added 12 points for Montana, which played again without starters Will Cherry and Mathias Ward because of foot injuries. Cherry, the team's leading scorer, has missed the last three games and is also expected to sit out the regular-season finale Saturday against Northern Arizona. Ward, who was hurt Feb. 16, had surgery this week and is out for the season.

John Dickson led Sacramento State (14-14, 8-11) with 15 points.

The Vikings, one of four teams still fighting for the final three spots in the seven-team Big Sky tournament, finish the regular season Saturday at Montana State.
