The Florida Panthers placed goaltender Jose Theodore on injured reserve prior to their 3-2 home loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

A report earlier in the day from RDS of Canada said that Theodore suffered a torn right groin and may be headed for surgery.

Theodore was tabbed as the starter in Saturday's 6-2 loss at Carolina, but departed the game after his first save of the contest, almost 2 1/2 minutes in, with an obvious right leg injury. He had to be carried off the ice, unable to put any pressure on the leg, and Scott Clemmensen was called upon for the remainder of the contest.

Clemmensen was the man in the crease for the back end of the home-and-home set.

Florida also placed defenseman Dmitry Kulikov on IR, while recalling goaltender Jacob Markstrom and defenseman Nolan Yonkman from San Antonio of the American Hockey League.
