Latvian Ernests Gulbis became a two-time titlist at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin in Sunday's final.

Gulbis, the 2010 champion, became the first qualifier to win a title since Jarkko Nieminen won at Sydney in January 2012.

The 24-year-old Gulbis appeared in his third career ATP final and first since winning in Los Angeles in 2011.

Roger-Vasselin, meanwhile, had not made it past the quarterfinals at any previous ATP event.

This marked the first time two players ranked outside the Top 100 competed for a trophy since the 2007 Houston final. Roger-Vasselin entered the match ranked 105th in the world, four spots ahead of Gulbis.
