Anthony Nieves scored 19 points, leading four Alcorn State players in double figures, and the Braves defeated Prairie View A&M 81-75 Thursday night.

Marquiz Baker added 18 points, LeAntwan Luckett scored 17 and Devonte Hampton tallied 10 points for Alcorn State (10-22, 8-9 SWAC).

The Braves shot 55 percent from the field — 65 percent in the second half.

Jourdan DeMuynck led all scorers with 22 points for Prairie View A&M (13-17, 8-9). Carl Blair had 13 points and eight assists and Jules Montgomery had 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

The Panthers got as close as three points with just over a minute to play but Luckett's three-point play and subsequent layup helped Alcorn State preserve the win.
