Updated

The Appalachian State football program's second 12-game regular-season schedule in its history will include a home game against Georgia Southern and road dates at Montana and Georgia this year.

The Mountaineers will play six home games under first-year head coach Scott Satterfield, who has replaced his former mentor, Jerry Moore.

Appalachian State opens its season at Montana on Aug. 31 and plays its other marquee road game at Georgia on Nov. 9.

The home schedule at Kid Brewer Stadium includes North Carolina A&T (Sept. 7) and Charleston Southern (Sept. 28) in non-conference action, and Samford (Oct. 12, Homecoming), Georgia Southern (Oct. 26), Chattanooga (Nov. 2) and Western Carolina (Nov. 23) in Southern Conference games.

SoCon contests at Elon (Sept. 21), The Citadel (Oct. 5), Furman (Oct. 19) and Wofford (Nov. 16) round out the road slate.

Appalachian State shared last year's SoCon with Georgia Southern and Wofford. The Mountaineers had an 8-4 record and ended the season ranked ninth in The Sports Network FCS Top 25.
