University Park, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ariel Edwards scored 21 points and No. 8 Penn State topped Michigan, 77-62, on Saturday at Bryce Jordan Center.

Maggie Lucas poured in 17 points, Talia East tallied 16 with seven rebounds and four blocks and Dara Taylor had 11 points with seven assists to help the Lady Lions (22-6, 13-3 Big Ten) close the regular season winning five of six.

Shannon Smith did all she could in the setback, finishing with 21 points and four steals in Michigan's (14-12, 8-8) second straight loss. Madison Ristovski shot 4-of-6 from distance for 14 points off the bench and Siera Thompson scored 10.

Lucas scored seven straight for PSU early on, including a triple just over five minutes in that gave the Lions their first lead at 11-10. The margin continued to grow over the course of the first half and the hosts owned a 40-31 halftime edge.

East opened the second half with four straight from the charity stripe, and Penn State broke the game open minutes later when Edwards' 3-ball ignited a 9-0 surge to push the score to 59-38. The lead remained in double figures the rest of the way.
