David Beckham made his debut for Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday as the Ligue 1 leaders got the better of Marseille, 2-0, at the Parc des Princes.

Beckham entered as a substitute for Javier Pastore in the 76th minute, becoming the 400th player to wear a PSG kit and the 27th Englishman to don the jersey of the capital club.

PSG weren't at their best on Sunday, but were gifted the lead just 11 minutes into the game when Marseille defender Nicolas N'Koulou directed one into his own net to give the hosts the early advantage.

PSG held the slim edge despite allowing Marseille to control 59 percent of the ball and put seven shots toward goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu's net.

Despite having the better of the play, Marseille was unable to find an equalizer and were made to pay for missing their chances in second-half stoppage time when Zlatan Ibrahimovic slotted it home off a cross from Jeremy Menez for the two-goal margin.

The result sees Les Rouge-et-Bleu reclaim a three-point cushion atop the Ligue 1 table, while Marseille remains in third place with 46 points.

Also on Sunday in Ligue 1, second-place Lyon secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over Lorient behind goals from Lisandro Lopez, Rachid Ghezzal and Arnold Mvuemba.

Brest took a 1-0 lead against Bordeaux via an own goal by Benoit Tremoulinas and finished off the result in the 83rd minute when Ahmed Kantari converted a penalty kick.
