Seattle Sounders FC has acquired midfielder Shalrie Joseph in a trade from Chivas USA in exchange for the club's No. 15 allocation ranking.

As part of the trade, Seattle also receives the No. 3 allocation ranking from Chivas, in addition to Chivas USA's natural second-round picks in the 2014 and 2015 MLS SuperDraft.

The 34-year-old Joseph is a seven-time MLS All-Star and has tallied 39 goals and 35 assists in 273 games during a 10-year spell with the New England Revolution and a brief stint with Chivas after moving to California in midseason last year.

"We're happy to add a player of Shalrie's experience to our team," said Sounders FC head coach Sigi Schmid. "He's been to MLS Cups before in his tenure with New England. He's a player that has proven himself to be a leader in game situations and a player of his quality can only help us be a better team as we move into this season."

Joseph will occupy a Designated Player slot for Seattle.
