Arnold Louis scored 18 points and 12 rebounds in Savannah State's 56-49 victory over North Carolina A&T on Monday night.

Louis, who went 4-of-5 shooting, scored seven points during a key first-half run for Savannah State, which won its 11th game in 13 tries after losing six straight.

Adrian Powell hit a jumper to give North Carolina A&T (13-14, 6-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Association) an early 12-6 lead. But a 16-1 run by Savannah State put the Tigers up for good, 22-13.

The Aggies cut the deficit to three twice in the second half but could not overtake Savannah State (16-10, 10-2), despite holding the Tigers scoreless over the final 7:40.

Savannah State shot 45 percent (10 of 22) in the first half but regressed to 28 percent (4 of 14) in the second half.

North Carolina A&T forced 27 turnovers but did not place a player in double figures.
