Coming off his win last weekend at Pebble Beach, Brandt Snedeker has decided to withdraw from next week's WGC - Accenture Match Play Championship.

Snedeker had battled sore ribs at last month's Humana Challenge, and those symptoms returned at Pebble Beach. He has gone on a pre-scheduled vacation this week, and will visit a doctor in Nashville later in the week.

"I certainly will miss competing in the Accenture Match Play Championship, and I really do appreciate what Accenture does to make that one of the premier events on our schedule," Snedeker said.

The reigning FedExCup champion finished second in his two starts before winning the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Snedeker will be replaced in the field by world No. 66 Fredrick Jacobson. Phil Mickelson had previously announced he was skipping the Match Play event, clearing the way for world No. 65 Shane Lowry to gain a spot in the field.

Jacobson, who has been battling a back injury himself, shared seventh place at Pebble Beach.

"At that point I was just happy," said Jacobson of his play at Pebble Beach. "I had had a long break, some back issues, and to play some golf and get into tournament rhythm, and also get a little bit into the heat of things, that was really good. That's one thing that you can't really practice at home. You've got to put yourself in that situation."
