Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has been handed a three-match ban by the German Football Association, it was announced Tuesday.

The Poland international was dismissed from his side's 4-1 loss to Hamburg at the weekend following his rash challenge on Per Ciljan Skjelbred in the 31st minute.

The German FA opted to take further action against Lewandowski, who will have 24 hours to appeal the decision.
