Mainz, Germany – Schalke has confirmed that midfielder Christoph Moritz will leave the club this summer to join Mainz.
Moritz will see his current deal with Schalke expire at the end of the season, and he has opted for a move to Mainz instead of inking an extension with his current side.
The 23-year-old will join Mainz on a contract that runs until 2017.
Moritz has been capped by Germany at the Under-21 level and has made 52 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke since joining the club from Alemannia Aachen in 2009.
