Mets sign Lyon

The New York Mets signed pitcher Brandon Lyon to a one-year contract on Friday.

Lyon combined to appear in 67 games out of the bullpen for Houston and Toronto in 2012, going 4-2 with one save and a 3.10 ERA.

Over 11 major league seasons with Toronto, Boston, Arizona, Detroit and Houston, Lyon is 40-45 with 79 saves and a 4.12 ERA in 535 games, including 21 starts.

The 33-year-old right-hander has two 20-save seasons -- 26 with Arizona in 2008 and 20 with Houston in 2010.
