The Los Angeles Kings on Friday acquired defenseman Keaton Ellerby from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a fifth- round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Ellerby failed to register a point and incurred 36 penalty minutes in nine games with the Panthers this season.
The 24-year-old has played in 125 career games with the Panthers, recording two goals and 15 assists to go along with 70 penalty minutes.
Ellerby was originally selected by Florida with the 10th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Los Angeles also assigned defenseman Andrew Campbell to Manchester (AHL).
