Huntelaar out with eye injury

Gelsenkirchen, Germany – Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been ruled out because of an eye problem and the club is unsure when he will return.

Huntelaar ruptured a blood vessel in his left eye and is being treated by an eye specialist, with the injury having forced him to miss the Netherlands' 1-1 draw with Italy in a friendly on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old has struggled to find the net recently with just one goal in his last seven appearances for Schalke, but his absence will be big as the club gets set to visit Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday.
