The vacant middleweight title that former champion Hector Lombard left behind was on the line in Georgia Thursday night.

Russian Alexander Shlemenko had been there before, winning his second Bellator tournament, but unlike last time he wouldn't have to face Lombard to get the belt.

With Lombard in the UFC, the only person standing in his way was fellow tournament winner and Brazilian Maiquel Falcao.

The first round was pretty standard and involved them standing up for the first half before Shlemenko took it to the ground.

In the second round business picked up as the two exchanged blows before Shlemenko knocked Falcao down with a right.

While Falcao was still on the ground, Shlemenko landed a few shots to the body that had Falcao visibly in pain, before delivering blows to the head that knocked him out and gave him his first Bellator championship.
