The Los Angeles Lakers will be without forward Pau Gasol for at least 6-8 weeks, the team announced Thursday.

Gasol suffered a tear of his plantar fascia in his right foot during Tuesday's win over the Nets in Brooklyn. He had an MRI in Boston Wednesday before returning to Los Angeles Thursday morning.

The 32-year-old Spaniard was examined by foot specialist Dr. Kenneth Jung in Los Angeles. Jung's diagnosis confirmed the extent of the injury.

Gasol is averaging 13.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 36 games (29 starts) this season.
