Damon Heuir, the leading scorer in the Big Sky Conference, scored six of his 17 points in overtime to lead Southern Utah to an 81-79 win over Idaho State on Thursday night.

Jackson Stevenett led the Thunderbirds (10-12, 8-5 Big Sky) with 23 points, but only had two points in overtime.

Heuir had a drive for the win in regulation play, but lost the ball beneath the basket with 4.2 seconds left.

Tomas Sanchez, who led Idaho State (4-18, 3-10) with 19 points, missed a 3-pointer from near the top of the key at the buzzer.

The game was close throughout the night with 13 ties and 21 lead changes.

A.J. Hess scored 12 points for Southern Utah and Cal Hanks had 10.

Andre Hatchett had 18 points for Idaho State while Melvin Morgan added 15.
