Real Salt Lake's Javier Morales underwent a successful surgery on Monday to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, the club announced.

"Happy to report that this was a straight-forward procedure, Javier has a good knee," said Dr. Andrew Cooper, who performed the procedure. "Very similar to the injury he suffered in MLS Cup 2009 on his left knee. The surgery was uncomplicated and we can expect Javi back on the field doing soccer-specific stuff in about 4-6 weeks."

Morales sustained the injury in RSL's preseason tussle with the Denmark U-20 national team on January 28. The 33-year-old flew home from the team's training camp in Irvine, Calif. to receive treatment.
