Derick Beltran made a career-high eight 3-pointers and finished with a career-best 35 points to help Southern University dominate Jackson State 78-58 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game Monday night.

Malcolm Miller added 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for Southern (16-7, 10-1), which remains undefeated at home.

Beltran made three consecutive 3s to start the match and Southern scored the first 13 points of the game. Southern shot 50 percent (14 of 28) in the first half and led 38-26 at halftime.

Jackson State (5-15, 4-7) got as close as six, 44-38, on Jeff Stubbs' 3-pointer with 14:18 remaining, but they got no closer as the Jaguars would go on a 22-0 run to blow open the game.

The Tigers shot just 27.5 percent (19 of 69) overall.

Stubbs led Jackson State with 11 points and seven rebounds.
