Stoke-on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Stoke City defender Matthew Upson has been loaned to Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion for the remainder of the season, the Premier League club announced Thursday.

The 33-year-old has fallen out of favor with the Potters this season, featuring in just two Stoke matches across all competitions.

Upson joined the Potters on a free transfer from West Ham in August of 2011. Prior to moving to the Britannia, the former England international bounced around the country, enjoying stints at Arsenal, Reading and Birmingham.
